The dairy was founded in 1983 when the family moved from So. California to Idaho to begin dairying for the first time. A few purebred heifers moved with the family at that time to start the base of the registered herd. From the origin, all grade heifers born were identified in the IHF program. Today, about one-third of the herd is 100% RHA and the remainder averaging over 90% RHA.
For years, we have been testing monthly with DHIA, classifing every seven months and utilizing an extensive Embryo Transfer program.
The herd is fed a TMR twice a day that consist of alfalfa hay, corn silage, rolled corn, whole cottonseed, beet pulp, dried distiller grains, canola, megalac and a custom designed mineral package with buffer added.
All cows and heifers are bred artificially.

The current array of service sires average:
PTA = 412 -- PTAM = 1382 -- PTAF = 49 -- PTAP = 40 -- PTAT = 1.97 -- TPI = 1495

Stouder Holsteins is proud to say that we are the original Grand Prize winners of the 1996 Dairy Herd Management Award Program sponsored by Protiva. This was a national competition, with entries from across the country. One judge was quoted saying "the Stouders have excellent analytical and business skills that should be used by all dairy producers - big and small."
